The Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Patient Safety

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia celebrates National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 12-18, 2017, to educate the community, patients and their families, clinicians and others on the importance of patient safety in the hospital and at home. With the theme “Lights, Camera, Safety!” the hospital will put safety into action to create the perfect script for successful rehabilitation outcomes, leading to award-winning moments of regained independence.

“Patient safety is a top priority and one of the most important aspects in creating a high-quality patient experience,” said The Rehabilitation Hospital of Southwest Virginia CEO Georgeanne Cole. “We know that patients have a choice and we work to enhance our culture of safety every day. This week-long event is an excellent opportunity to recognize the importance of safety in our hospital.”

Members of the community are invited to the hospital for tours and to learn about services provided by the inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

Patient Safety Awareness Week was initially launched in 2002 and is endorsed by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) whose mission is to: improve the safety of patients by identifying and creating a core body of knowledge; identify pathways to apply the knowledge; develop and enhance the culture of receptivity to patient safety; raise public awareness and foster communications about patient safety as well as improve the status of NPSF and its ability to meet its goals.
